In 1981 Hubbard Street Studios opened its doors when principals Jim Poulsom and Pat Brennan felt it was time to get serious with their love of audio and music, and began making calls to sell the studio’s services. Within two months, a Chicago advertising vet gave Hubbard Street an assignment -- a jingle and related television and radio spot production work. The job went very well, the agency became a great client, and Hubbard Street Studios was on its way.
There is nothing intrisically remarkable about this story -- it’s been played out many times. What’s extraordinary is that the ad vet who gave Hubbard Street its first break is still coming to Hubbard Street, and he and his company remain--after over 30 years--one of the studio’s best clients. That kind of loyalty is a rare thing these days, so it speaks volumes about both the client and Hubbard Street. When quality finds quality, the connection tends to last a lifetime.
There are a lot of reasons for such loyalty. Sure, you’ll find the latest technology like Pro Tools HD and a boatload of plug-ins -- but you’ll appreciate our vintage microphones, off-board gear, and what many pros think are the best sounding rooms in the city. Best of all, the engineers you’ll work with are the studio owners. With their reputation on the line they take your project as seriously as you do. It’s why we’ve been creating great audio in Chicago for over three decades. An absolute commitment to quality, a knowledge of the needs and wants of creative professionals, and the proven tools to get it done right - that's what it's about at Hubbard Street.
